Round 2

I preached again last night. Here is the run down of what I spoke: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Using the Holy Spirit to Expand the Kingdom What are the churches intentions? To grow in size? To get better things or equipment? To simply get rewards for you only? Is your relationship with God all about coming to church and receiving from Him? He sent His Holy Spirit because He loves us and we need to use what He has given us to reach the lost, and reach the people who don’t know Him or who need his...

Adventures in Leslie’s Missions. Haha!

WOW! What a week! So much has happened this week, and I am only ready for more! God is moving in mighty ways.   We had the opportunity to go to a traditional Rwandan Wedding, which was pretty interesting. We went to what they call an Introduction. This was the first of three, and it lasted about 4 hours. To sum it up, there was a lot of alcohol, a lot of talking between the fathers(this lasted about 2 hours), great food, awesome dancing, and a special song about the dowry given to the bride’s family. This dowry consisted of 8 cows, so the whole song was describing the names and...

Meet my team! :D

This blog is to introduce you to my team that I am spending the whole month with!    This is Sharel. She is a powerful woman of God from Texas. She is on the World Race Exposure trip with me, so we are here for only a month. She is an RA at her university, and she has been to Africa before. One thing that amazes me about Sharel is her generous spirit. She gave me a pair of shorts just because I needed some for that day. She randomly says she loves everybody, and she is full of powerful and insightful words for any conversation. I love her dearly, and I am learning so much from...

Tree Planted by the Water

HELLO!  The past few days have been interesting. I met some “street kids” or in other words, homeless children. Some of their names are Jean Pierre, Sadid, and Emmanuel (Emmy), all about 9 to 11 years old. It broke my heart seeing them. It was interesting watching people interact with them and hearing their story. Everyone in the town seemed to know who they were, or what they were. Yet they seemingly did nothing about their condition. They are treated like thieves and outcasts. One boy only has a father, one has a mother that is “crazy” or absentminded, and...

Heavenly Treasures

From anywhere in Ocean View, we can see countless mountains and a body of water. It's unreal. Today, our family took us out to breakfast and down to the beach: talk about a great Saturday morning 🙂 We love our family and the way they have made us one of them. So our first week of ministry is over and I am so confused by my own thoughts and feelings! Yesterday, some of us were talking about how we felt like we weren't able to do much here since we're only in Ocean View for a week. But our contact, Chantel, had some wise and encouraging words to say: "You can spend a year...

My Camp Sermon and Week 1

Fellow Americans (awesome supporters),  I wish I could share more with you about the experiences I have had this week but I will try to put them in the following words. Starting last weekend our team began training on how to aid those with vision impairments and we basically planned out a week-long camp from there. On Monday I spoke on the topic of our week which was putting our identity in Christ. I gave bits of my testimony and shared with them that difficult and less than perfect circumstances are usually what the Lord uses in order to grow and show us who He is. I was able to share...
