Gardening with God.

When working in a garden, if all you were willing to do was pick the fruit of each plant, who would do the rest of the work?We all know plowing the soil and planting the seeds come before growth can occur. The same is true when working in God’s garden.  This month as I hung out with the girls in the bar,I had to be content with simply plowing the field and planting seeds. I hope and pray some day I will get to hear about the fruit that is harvested because of God’s work through me. However, in the meantime, I must be patient and content to wait for God’s timing. He is so...

God is So Sovereign!

So I'm with my first "team" (meaning the girls-and one boy-who I'm flying out with but then we'll be splitting up further to go out to different countries and regions) and they are incredible! It is just amazing to see how God brings the perfect people into your life and the perfect time! We have already had amazing, Godly conversations full of wisdom for each other and amazing perspectives! I'm already learning from them! They all have such amazing hearts for God and his people! I cannot wait to see how each of them are used by Him over the next month and...

How desperate must you be?

I met a man at the bar the other night who, when he heard we were part of a Christian mission organization, promptly asked, “Then why are you here at the bar??”  So I began explaining a little about our ministry and how we were there to show the girls that they are valued and loved infinitely more than any price tag put on them.  He then questioned me further, wanting to know what I had found to be the main reason the girls start working at the bar.  I told him that money was the biggest issue—usually they have to/are forced to support their family in some...

The Mission.

What will you be doing in Thailand?? This is a question I was asked quite a few times before I got to Thailand, and up until last week I was unable to give a good answer.  The way Adventures in Missions works is that they like to leave a lot of unknowns so as to leave room for God to work. (Hence my last post) However, now that I’m here, and we have started our ministry, I can tell you all a little bit more about it. We arrived in Chiang Mai about a week ago and are staying at a guesthouse run by Lighthouse which is the ministry with whom we are partnering.  The biggest...

Created To Love.

John 4:7-12 "Beloved, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. This is how God showed His love among us: He sent His one and only Son into the world that we might love through Him. This is love: not that we loved God but that He loved us and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us, and His love is made complete...

Broken. Surrendered. Ready to Serve.

EXPECTATIONS. We all have them about pretty much everything. They usually consist of either what we want to happen, which leads to excitement, or what we really don’t want to happen, which leads to dread.  Before I began my adventures here in Thailand, I really had a mixture of both kinds.  I knew so little about what I was going to be doing and who I was going to be with that my imagination ran wild and began to play out the worst possible scenarios in my head, which invoked some fear; yet I was excited to see what was actually in store for me so I could stop making things...
