Through the Sound of His Voice

God is a living God. His voice speaks into each of our lives and cannot be limited to how it is presented to us. From the beauty of the Rocky mountains to an audible voice, God is speaking to each of us.

In the last several weeks I have been seeking God and asking for guidance on my life in preparation for my time in Africa. Internally I was battling with the idea of being given the opportunity to Love orphans and the feelings of leaving behind a ministry and group of friends that I care so much about. With the reality that I would only be gone a month God began to show me what it looked liked to have His servant heart. God has blessed me with the opportunity to serve alongside some truly amazing people and in some very unique and incredible ways through nine70 and I was reluctant to leave it behind. I wanted to hear from God confirmation on my decision to go and provide me a willingness to give everything I could possibly plus more.

Up until last night my team had only a vague idea of what we would be doing in South Africa. We were all gathered and our trainers handed out our assignment sheets. I was given a map of Africa with a star over the city of Pretoria. I will be living at an orphanage in Pretoria with the opportunity to be Love to God's children. I also will have the privilege of working with young adults in the community focusing on teaching them about Jesus.

I instantly had a peace about going. How incredible that God would bring about the two groups of people that are heavy on my heart. Children deserve and need to be invested in, they are the fatherless according to this world but can be set free through the life that Jesus offers held tightly by their heavenly Father. As a young adult myself I value the love that people have continued to pour into me. My life given to me by my Father is filled abundantly with His beauty through the people in my life, my experiences, His love and so much more and the opportunity to be the love that I have received to someone else makes my heart light on fire.

Other members of my team will be camping in Durban, South Africa with young adult men and mentoring them, building them up and establishing a strong foundation of who they are in Christ. There is another group of people that will be in Cape Town doing administrative work at a local church and helping with various church ministries.

God knows us more intimately than we could ever understand. I am learning that it is ok to be scared and to be nervous because we have a God that can be our shoulder and pick us up when things get tough. He speaks to others to speak into us and the experience of someone being given a word to be shared with you affirms that our God is greater, higher and alive.

Now we wait in anticipation at the airport. The people that God has knit together on this team is wonderful. He has covered us in his protection and already has established an environment that welcomes vulnerability and trust. How incredible He is!
