I preached again last night. Here is the run down of what I spoke:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Using the Holy Spirit to Expand the Kingdom
-
What are the churches intentions?
-
To grow in size?
-
To get better things or equipment?
-
To simply get rewards for you only?
-
Is your relationship with God all about coming to church and receiving from Him?
-
He sent His Holy Spirit because He loves us and we need to use what He has given us to reach the lost, and reach the people who don’t know Him or who need his love.
-
Where are your ministries? Churches ALL OVER should be
-
Bars
-
Streets
-
Schools
-
Marketplaces
-
These people need Him and you all are the way they can hear of the Lord
-
STORY of Churches at home not reaching out
-
It says all through Revelation (2:7, 11, 17, 29, and 3:6, 13, 22) “He who has an ear let him hear what the spirit has to say to the churches.”
-
God is ALWAYS looking for servants that He can communicate to and through
We must become sacrifices to the Lord by going out and telling about Him and His love
-
The Lord speaks to us
-
Through the Word and the spiritual gifts He has provided to us.
-
He does this to build up the body (the church) so that we can build up the world
Shows that we are given different gifts but we should use them in that way
-
Romans 12:11-13
-
Remain on fire for God and His spirit
-
Be joyful in the hope He has given each of us in the Word
-
Be patient in hard times
-
Be constantly in prayer
-
Love those and help those who are in need
-
Romans 12:14-16
-
Do not curse those who come against you
-
Have compassion
-
Do not have pride and put yourself above others. We are all seen the same in the eyes of the Lord
-
In Luke 4:18 Jesus says that the spirit is on Him and He uses the Holy Spirit to:
-
Preach gospel to poor
-
Heal broken hearted
-
Proclaim freedom
-
Recover sight of blind
-
Release the oppressed
-
If Jesus used the gifts and the powers of the Holy Spirit to help others, WE SHOULD TOO
-
Gifts are NOT rewards that we have earned; They are tools to be used in helping other people
-
So I challenge you church. Get out and use what the Lord has given us. Do not be lazy and lukewarm. Be hot and on fire for God and tell of His awesome love! Use the gifts of the Holy Spirit to expand His kingdom.
**If you want more on these gifts and what they are, you can read more in 1 CORINTHIANS 12
It went great! I think the congregation took it well. Also! Jean Pierre, one of the street boys I met has been coming to church and bringing even more homeless boys. Pastor has set up 4 or 5 men to look after the boys and help get them back on their feet. God has been so faithful in that! I am so excited for them! Also my buddy Jean Claude has been loving them so well. I will definitely miss that kid! Keep praying that we finish strong! We leave Nyagatare on the 26 and head to Kigali (the capital) to meet up with the team for a few days. Then back to the grand ole USA!
Miss you all!!
