Mumezemute? (how are you all doing?)
So praise the Lord our internet is working today! It is very iffy and the schedule for when the cafe is open is completely unknown. So sorry in advance if it ends up taking a while to update.
Well first of all I got to preach! It was awesome! I felt ZERO nerves going into it. I was actually very excited and really pumped to get out there and talk about it! Jesus definitely helped out there. I basically ran through Galatians and gave a little bit of Ephesians and 2 Corinthians to top it off. My message was somewhat short but I spoke on how the Lord set us free from sin and from law. It was nailed to the cross to be made a spectacle of. Also how doing good works or being a good person is great but it means nothing to the kingdom. You must have FAITH. Before faith we had law to lead us to Christ but since He came, He has justified the law by His sacrifice (our faith). Then I topped it with how He showed us so much grace, and how we deserve nothing but failure and death yet still died FOR US. So it was a good topper for the message Rachel gave the night before. I definitely feel like the Holy Spirit took over. No doubt!
Another awesoe thing is that last night after Ada (team member) spoke, Pastor Caleb went up and spoke and it was COMPLETELY AWESOME and of God! If you read my previous blogs you know we have been struggling to understand the church's anatomy and relationship with God, and were very concerned. Well we didnt even mention it to Pastor and last night and even this morning He crushed our concerns and questions. He spoke last night about how God does not just reveal Himself through loud preachers or flamboyant ministers or things like that. He went on to explain that Jesus is a personal God with a gentle spirit that certainly can be revealed in that way but that we cannot put a label on who He is. We need to simply have a relationship with Him. Pastor said many of the members were reacting in panic when he said he was going out of town and he said this is uncalled for. He explained that we do not need a pastor to tell us when to sit, stand, pray, sing, worship, scream amen, or read our Bibles. We can do all those things on our own, and we should. God wants that personal and UNIQUE relationship with each and every person. He doesn't want a relationship through someone else. We were all just so ecstatic to hear him speak in that way with so much passion. Our prayers and your prayers have been answered. The Lord revealed pastor's heart to us and to his church. This helps us in so many ways with our ministry. We all feel so much comfortable knowing that we are all on the same page. It's awesome! God is about to Open the Flood Gates! Door to door missions starts Monday! 🙂
Random things about this place and trip:
– People here are not afraid to stare. AT ALL! I thought for sure the people in the town would get used to us traveling by them EVERYDAY and maybe stop staring, but NOPE haha
– Really interesting thing is that when they stare at us they have such a mean face but as soon as you wave or smile or say hello (moraho) their faces LIGHT UP. Its crazy. Pastor says its different here than in America because they don't always smile but they are happy in their hearts!
– Here is my food schedule EVERYDAY! haha… MORNING is 1 boiled egg, 2 mini bananas, and chipati (thick tortilla)… LUNCH/DINNER is rice, noodles, potatoes, avocado slice, beef with mystery sauce, and sometimes pineapple. (CARB CENTRAL) I think I will be gaining weight. :/
– All the stores here sell secondhand things. It's like a thrift city.
Prayers:
– Direction and boldness for us as we move further with our ministry
– Health of the team
– Energy. Especially for my team members that this is their 7th month and country in a row.
– And just for the pure JOY of the Lord 🙂
Thank you all for being so supportive and following my story. I hope you can find some inspiration or something the Lord is trying to tell you through our blogs. Don't stop chasing Him. If you aren't then start stretchin!
