It’s Time for Africa

AHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! My flight to Africa leaves tonight. I'm so excited to have this wonderful opportunity. I would like to start by thanking all the wonderful people in my life who made this possible. To everyone who has supported me spiritually and financially,  thank you! You are a blessing to me, my team members as well as those who we will be serving in Africa. To my mom and dad, I would like to say Thank you! thank you for believing in me. Thank you for supporting me. Thank you for letting...

Jump on in.

I'm not even out of America and God has already shown us a glimps of His great power.  We all met at the airport and then shuttled to the Hotel where we stayed the night and did some preporations for our departures. After dinner and some "get to know each other time" we had some "serious time." In the serious time our leaders, Chris & Holly, talked about listening prayers. I heard this term on a trip with AIM last summer and although I forgot the term God has been working with me a lot on listening to Him over the past year. However, last night was WAY...

Listening…

During our one day of training down here in Atlanta, we took time to get to know each other from our team in Rwanda and also a team that is heading on down to South Africa at the same time with us.  It was definitely a bit awkward talking with strangers from around the country, but we all had the common ground of taking a step of faith in going overseas to serve His kingdom. “So I set the world on fire…

…We can grow brighter than the SON.” Okay, FUN. May actually say “sun” instead, but I like my version better. Tonight I get on a plane for South Africa. I have vague ideas of what I am getting myself into and I’m sure the real thing will make a joke of my silly ideas anyways, so I’m really not too concerned with knowing. But because God is gracious to us and knows how to best encourage us when he asks us to step into the unknown, here is what I do know: God is bringing me into a greater version of my identity. He has been teaching me to actually...

Sour patch kids!!

Finally met all of the teammates in Atlanta and found that all of them are awesomely unique! I’m excited to get to know everyone once inside Rwanda. I have a general sense of everyone’s personality but it’s been only one day. I wonder how we will all start to interact ince in the field but i keep praying that God ensures team unity. One excercise we did last night was listening prayer. I have nallyever done this before but basically we sit in a circle and speak what is on our mind. One person gets tapped anonymously and others tell that person what they think God is...

Through the Sound of His Voice

God is a living God. His voice speaks into each of our lives and cannot be limited to how it is presented to us. From the beauty of the Rocky mountains to an audible voice, God is speaking to each of us. In the last several weeks I have been seeking God and asking for guidance on my life in preparation for my time in Africa. Internally I was battling with the idea of being given the opportunity to Love orphans and the feelings of leaving behind a ministry and group of friends that I care so much about. With the reality that I would only be gone a month God began to show me what it looked...
