Live like there’s no tomorrow.

They keep saying they are blessed to have us here but we are so blessed by them. The church service here is so different than any church service I have attended and so great! They can worship, oh how they can worship. It's not just standing in rows clapping your hands and maybe once and a while a lil sway. It's a whole movement, it's a dance! It's a scream of hallelujah and a response of Amen. It is dancing in the aisles. It is jumping up and down swaying and flinging your arms every which way. They know how to worship. The only instrument is a keyboard. Mama (pastor's...

Getting There

So we left on August 1, and basically traveled for 3 days. We went to Hartsfield airport at about 4 pm, and went to our gate. A girl named Christina and I went on a different flight than the rest of our team. Our itinerary flew from Atlanta to Paris, Paris to Nairobi (Kenya), and Nairobi to Entebbe (Uganda). Our flight was a little bit delayed. So when we reached the Paris airport, we were a little bit rushed. And that is not a place to be rushed, because the Paris airport is very confusing. So when we arrived in Paris, we had to travel on shuttles to get to our gate, which is very stupid...

Brokenness

I was broken, but now I am free from the past and cleansed from all the filth in my life.I I still know I will make mistakes again, but I know now I can give them to the Lord and be cleansed from anything everyday and every day pick up my cross daily!  Wounded and forsaken I was shattered by the fall Broken and forgotten Feeling lost and all alone Summoned by the King Into the Master's courts Lifted by the Savior And cradled in His arms I was carried to the table Seated where I don't belong Carried to the table Swept away by His love And I don't see my brokenness...

God is here too?

I hate being comfortable. When things start to get too comfortable, I move on. Literally, I pack  up and leave, plan a trip, shave my head bald, erase any "secular" music on my ipod, etc. But this month I can't do any of those things… I came to South Africa in hopes of living amongst those in poverty. In hoped I will have to use a squatty potty. I hoped that there would be no running water and that I would have to use cold second-hand water from a bucket to bathe in. But here at beam house, I take nice hot showers in a huge bathroom, I took a bath with oils, I...

What is Leslie doing in Rwanda?

Right now I am sitting in the living room of our host home and “Let It Be” by the Beatles is playing on the radio in Kabuga, Rwanda while I type my blogs and drink tea. Ah Jesus loves me so much. J   Rwanda is an amazing place. It has only been about five days, and I am already wrecked for this place. God is doing some indescribable things in me.   There is this thing that the World Race practices which is called feedback. Basically every night, your team meets to give each other encouragement. Sometimes there is constructive criticism, but only concerning ministry. It...

Open the Flood Gates!

Mumezemute? (how are you all doing?) So praise the Lord our internet is working today! It is very iffy and the schedule for when the cafe is open is completely unknown. So sorry in advance if it ends up taking a while to update. Well first of all I got to preach! It was awesome! I felt ZERO nerves going into it. I was actually very excited and really pumped to get out there and talk about it! Jesus definitely helped out there. I basically ran through Galatians and gave a little bit of Ephesians and 2 Corinthians to top it off. My message was somewhat short but I spoke on how the Lord set us...
