Real Life Exposure is like P90X

Life as a Christian in America can sometimes become dull and routine, like any kind of exercise program. The difference between a yoga DVD from Target and P90x, besides the price, is the fact that P90x works your body in hardcore different ways every single day. Your body rarely has the chance to get used to the routine. By leaving my comforts at home, I have so far been able to experience God in a new and exciting way, which my soul isn’t used to. I attended training camp June 28 and 29 in Atlana with 18 other “Real Lifers”, who were all incredible. We bonded immediately...

On this mountain of love…

I love, love, love it here. Over the past 5 days my mind has been filled with so many emotions and feelings but at the same time I’ve never been at more peace in my life. It’s incredible here.  My team is simply amazing: Katy is my “coach” who checks in on me basically everyday and keeps me motivated to do what I’m here to do, Rachel is my team leader and pretty much has all the information for me everyday, Tiffany and Justin are “the married couple” on our team (this is pretty rare on the world race) and they have been such an encouragement...

Humbeled and Broken in the best way possible

On the way to Beam (the organization we are working with) this my morning my heart was breaking again. I found myself angry wondering how God could allow people to live in the state that some of these so-called “houses” were in. Most of the “houses” we passed were nothing but sheets of metal pushed together with another sheet of metal on top held down my whtever rocks these people could find for a “roof”. In some places fabric was draped over sticks to make a “home” for someone. I found myself asking God why? Even the poorest of the poor in...

TIA . . .this is Africa

The desert really does look like an ocean of liquid gold. Flying out of Amsterdam, my KLM flight chartered a course directly over the Saharan Desert. Whorls, swirls, dunes, and monotonous wave-like lines stretched forever in all directions visible from the plane window. As the 11 hour flight progressed and night fell, a deep abyss swallowed the golden sea. No lights punctured the darkness until rather suddenlyJohannesburg, South Africa flickered in welcome. Three continents, 2 planes, 24 hours, and an easy 5-minute immigration checkpoint (when I had to lend the customs agent my pen...

A Thankful Heart.

I arrived home Thursday night with much relief after the 40 hours in airports/planes. I can already feel the temptation setting in to return to normal life like I lived before I went to Thailand. However, a part of me believes that is hardly possible because of the change God has done in my heart. The growth I experienced through this trip is something I never want to forget. I move forward with a thankful heart for the overflow of blessings God has given me: My eyes have been opened to the heart of God in a way I had never known before. Chains have fallen off of me that I didn't know...

Training Camp Awesomeness!

I am in awe of the awesomeness of God! He is always amazing but I do not notice it nearly enough, so He is constantly reminding me. Today a girl at training asked me if I wanted to go to the store with her before we left, she was taking a cab and said she would pay but just didn't think she should go alone. I didn't have anything to do, but a part of me just didn't want to go for somereason. However, as most people probably know, I hate saying no to people so I figured "why not?" and agreed. When we got in the cab our driver turned out to be from Ghana! (This is...
