Unknown

Jumping right into this experience the one word that sticks out to me is unknown. Expect the unexpected. I arrived in Atlanta not knowing what to expect. Nervous doesn't quite describe my feeling. I was more anxious to start this experience, get my task, and know what needs to be done. I can all ready tell I will have to escape my normal behavior of a "checklist" ministry. We were told to be more than flexible….be fluid. This is exciting and a little nerve racking.  Wesley, my partner, and I will arrive in Durban, South Africa and work with Higher Ground, an...

What I Leave Behind

What an incredible experience this has already been and I haven't even left for Africa yet.  God has spoken to me so much, in ways that he never has in just the 24 hours that I have been with AIM.  We are just finishing up our training in Georgia.  I got to meet the 12 amazing people that I will be traveling to Rwanda with and the other 12 who will be serving in South Africa.  During our training we went over the typical procedures and safety issues, while all that is very useful, the most powerful part of training was going over how God still speaks today.  We...

God Still Speaks

So I am not even in Africa yet and I am already so pumped! I got to Georgia today and met up with everyone from my team.  There are 2 teams, mine which is going to South Africa and the other which is going to Rwanda; both teams have 12 people in them.  Once everyone got to the airport, we made our way to the hotel that we are staying at for the night.  Once at the hotel, we picked our roommates for the night and headed up to our room til dinner.  I am staying with Jessica, hayley, and Kendra and they are all so great!  We spent se time talking and getting to know...

On my way

This world race exposure has already expanded many fascets of my life and taught me so much and I have not even set foot in Africa. God has been so faithful throughout these last few months and I cannot thank Him enough for His unfailing love, mercy and grace. Thank you so much to everyone who has supported me along the way both financially and in prayer. Please continue praying for my team and me. Pray for unity and singleness in mind and thought. Pray for the people of Rwanda and how God is going to impact them in huge ways. Pray for us not to make this trip about us, but about God and...

Ready! Set! Go!

Man, what an amazing and rough week.  Tomorrow (aka today) I head to Atlanta then to Rwanda! I have no idea what to expect and I feel as I overpacked. Everything would be easier if for everything we had a play by play with every detail on what was needed, what was expected to happen, and so on. You know your in God's will when life doesn't work that way because if it did we wouldn't have to trust Him with our plans and future.  So lookig back on this week so many things went wrong, but God worked it out. One awesome thing about this week is i had an opportunity to...

Tomorrow I go…

I cannot believe that I leave for my trip tomorrow.  I remember reading through all of the blogs that people have posted on here thinking how amazing it would be to go on a trip like this.  Now here I am writing a blog post of my own.  It is surreal.  I don't even think that it has really set in yet that I am going to Africa.  Usually when you go on a vacation or have something coming up that you are really excited about you picture what it is going to be like in your head.  I can't even do that for this becuase I have no idea what to expect! ...
