WOW! What a week! So much has happened this week, and I am only ready for more! God is moving in mighty ways.
We had the opportunity to go to a traditional Rwandan Wedding, which was pretty interesting. We went to what they call an Introduction. This was the first of three, and it lasted about 4 hours.
To sum it up, there was a lot of alcohol, a lot of talking between the fathers(this lasted about 2 hours), great food, awesome dancing, and a special song about the dowry given to the bride’s family.
This dowry consisted of 8 cows, so the whole song was describing the names and lives of each cow. It was sung by a “cow boy,” who we met earlier at the church. What an experience! And also a great honor to be invited to this wedding.
We also got to wear these awesome dresses!
This was the happy couple!
On Monday we went to Kigali to go shopping and such. Thanks to my awesome mother, we found a mock-starbucks café called Bourbon Coffee that had great food, wi-fi, and quality coffee, of course. It was such a blessing to be able to have 2 lattes and a delicious chicken pesto sandwich! I was on cloud nine!
More on the serious side, I have had so many little encounters with the Lord. A friend asked me what has been my favorite thing about this trip, and I said the clarity of God’s voice. Let me elaborate. I have developed a gift of prophecy since I’ve been up here, and most of the time the prophecies have been right on.
I have also been writing a couple of sermons to share when God tells me to. This is crazy because I finally feel like I am living out my calling to be a preacher. All of my life I have felt called to preach, but now I am getting the opportunity to actually do it and God is working miraculously in that!
We also have had about 9 salvations since we’ve been here, which has been GLORIOUS!
I give God all the glory for what he is doing through my team of missionaries–or as Pastor John calls us, Servants of God. 🙂
