Random Thoughts on the Long Ride to Cape Town

Some people can take something big, the whole horizon, and fold it up neat and small and slip it into their front pocket. Sometimes I think I’d like to be that person folding small and neat. Maybe my pockets are too small. I can hardly fit one morning. I think now I need to live in an unfolded world. I want to lay it all out like a map on a wooden table. I want the beautiful mess. On this bus I can see that the world is a beautiful mess. I want to depend on God for everything. I’m yearning for the uncertainty. These kids who are on the World Race never know what’s going to happen next and they all depend on our Lord trusting that he will provide. I hope this month gives me a taste of that life. I’m ready to let go of familiar comforts and depend on Him.
