HELLO!!
Debrief was in Uganda with the whole squad and it was great. I feel like the Lord has been really equipping me for some sort of spiritual warfare. Needless to say I'm very excited. Our trip from Uganda to Rwanda was beautiful! (In a way it has reminded me a lot of Panama) The bus ride was like 9 hours, and when we got to the Rwandan border we had to get out and walk across, THEN we had to dip our shoes in this alcohol water to cleanse us from disease or something. I don't know, it was kind of cool.
I am getting very close with my team and Im loving it. Its me, two other men, and three girls and we are all staying in this little two room "apartment" type thing in town. It's not luxurious or anything but much nicer than I was expecting. The cultural differences here are so funny, it makes for great awkward encounters. For instance, men will sometimes hold hands while walking and the sense of humor is sarcastic but yet they understand no sarcasm haha (very confusing).
Our host, Pastor Caleb is so kind and loving towards us. He is about 6'5" 130lbs, always has a huge smile on and telling jokes, and is very pitchy while he talks when goofing around. We joke around saying he reminds us of the giraffe from Madagascar (Melman or whatever). Anyway, we are so grateful and excited to waork with such an obedient man of God. We start up tomorrow and will be doing door to door preaching, I will be leading worship, we will be helping in church (which they have EVERY night, so cool).
I miss everybody so much but I am so ready for these next few weeks. I have complete faith that God is moving here in this region and He is gonna do something BIG, maybe in me or here in Nyagatare. Thank you again for all the support and please stay tuned to see some awesome God movement 🙂
PRAYER:
-For obedience in what we feel the Lord is calling us to do
-For restoration and energy for the other members of my team that have been going strong for 7 months now
-For safety as we roam around this unknown country
With love,
Johnathan Romo
PS A guy just sat down next to me and proceeded to introduce himself (Ivan) and he wanted to say hello to you all…. so HELLO America! haha
